In Brookfield, Wayne Pogers was reported missing to police shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 after he had not been seen by his wife for an extended period of time.
According to a spokesperson from the Brookfield Police Department, Pogers’ wife said that he had been working on their boat and doing other chores in the backyard, though she became concerned about him after not seeing him for awhile.
Upon arrival, police said that officers located Pogers, who was several feet underwater.
Officers were able to remove Pogers from the water and CPR was started with an assist from members of the Brookfield Fire Department and Candlewood Company. He was transported to Danbury Hospital by paramedics, where he was later pronounced dead, police announced on Friday, May 27.
